For Day 3, we chose a picture from our trip to Tangier, Morocco. During our trip, we visited the Cave of Hercules (Grottes d’Hercules), which is located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. It is an interesting site, but the highlight is the opening of the cave that is believed to have been carved by the Phoenicians. When viewed from the ocean, the opening is in the shape of Africa, which makes it pretty unique.

Beautiful blue, actually reminds me of the Blue Grotto in Capri!
Capri is on our “must see” list 🙂
There is a Blue Grotto in Malta also.

Lovely pic……..but as a geographer have to say…….isn’t it the sea that ‘carves’ the cave!
Our understanding is that it was carved by the Phoenicians, but perhaps it was the sea ☺
It was probably a little bit of both, but a beautiful spot in the world.
