We have found Frankfurt to have a wide variety of restaurants, especially French, Italian, and Thai restaurants. We have enjoyed finding spots to eat around our apartment where the staff are friendly, the food is good, and the atmosphere is inviting. There is a restaurant near the underground train station that we use almost on a daily basis that has become a go-to place. The Brasserie in Frankfurt is a wonderful restaurant, which is small like most of the restaurants here, but it is definitely worth visiting if you are in the area.
Located next to Alte Oper (the old opera house), it is basically a French Bistro with fresh food of the finest quality. We have enjoyed many wonderful meals at the Brasserie, but probably our favorite meals have been the plate du jour. They have a somewhat limited menu, but everything we have eaten there has been truly delicious. The meals are not particularly expensive, despite being in the heart of the tourist area and only about a ten-minute walk from our apartment.
The photos we have taken won’t truly give the food justice, but we have had a wide variety of meals including lamb, fish, salads, and soup. The one thing that we haven’t eaten yet is the pumpkin and apple strudel, but we will definitely be giving that a try very soon. We are on our way to Vienna tomorrow, so we will look forward to tasting meals while we are there.
