A lot of people think that where they live is one of the best places in the world. We have certainly seen some beautiful places, fascinating cities, and gorgeous landscapes, but we find it hard not to think of Colorado as a very special place to live. We recently have had the opportunity to pretty much move wherever we would like within the continental United States, but even after consideration of other locations, we have decided to continue to make Colorado our home. Although flying from Denver isn’t always as convenient as someplace like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, etc., but we can get to every place we want to go, it might just take us a little longer.
What we might sacrifice for convenience we more than make up for in the natural beauty and opportunities for outdoor adventure. Regardless of the time of year, heading into the mountains always results in a memorable experience. Like many other travelers, we are often absorbed with going some place new, some place we have never been before, and don’t take enough time to truly explore the treasures in our own backyard. We actually keep a list of places that are within a few hours drive so that we can use a weekend to go and discover some of these unique locations.
With that in mind, we thought that we would provide some visual evidence as to why we think Colorado is such a wonderful place to live. This week’s Daily Post Photo Challenge is Tour Guide and we will do our best to take you on a journey across different parts of Colorado and some of the historic towns of the old west. Starting with Colorado Springs and then heading into the high country, there is seemingly something to see around every corner. Do you love where you live and take time to explore it?

We think Colorado is a wonderful , scenic place to visit; have family near Colorado Springs and going to share this blog with them. However, weather is too cold in winter and unpredictable overall for us. We decided on retiring in Santa Rosa, CA because of the year-round relatively mild climate; close proximity to the Pacific Ocean (19 miles to Bodega Bay); and, of course, Sonoma Country wine country. Have you been here? If not, we would love to catch up and share our local knowledge should you plan a visit.
The weather is definitely unpredictable in Colorado. We try to take trips to where it is warm in the winter to get away from the cold. We have not been to Sonoma Country, but would love to go there. We will let you know when we plan a trip 🙂
January through March are the rainy and cold months here–we try to get away to warm places during those months

I love Colorado but don’t love winter, which is why I chose to live in North Carolina when I was finishing up in college. NC has a lot of diversity from the mountains to the central region to the coast. We try to explore it as much as we can and appreciate it. Is it the best place in the world? No, but it’s good enough for now.
Yes, Colorado can get cold in the winter. Although for us, we live in Colorado Springs, it has been very mild this winter. We have been to NC and it a beautiful state.

I currently live in Paris now and yes I do love it here but I do also miss my hometown NYC from time to time. Sometimes you appreciate things more when you step away from it.
Definitely agree. It is very easy to fall into the trap of not appreciating where you are.

I have considered Colorado as a retirement location but not sure I could handle the winters. I’ve been there in winter. 🙂 But I do love it there. I also love Virginia. The state has a lot to offer and the winters are (usually) more mild.
In Colorado Springs we don’t get the snow and cold like the mountains do. We have a day here and there but usually not too bad 🙂
The last time I visited it was -10. Haha. But that is good to know. Maybe it wasn’t average. I sure loved it there even in the winter.
We never know what to expect :). We can be sunny an 70 degrees one day and the next day we can have snow and be at 24 degrees. Keeps life exciting 🙂
Nope, don’t even like it one little bit, except when I am out on the water in our boat. But 2 years ago when I lived in New Hampshire, I did love where I lived.
I have never been to Colorado. That Garden of the Gods is stunning! And those colorful rocks… wow. You do live in a wonderful place.
We have not been to New Hampshire, but visiting that part of the country is something that we definitely want to do. We agree, Colorado is a beautiful place to live. We have talked several times about moving to some place different, but always decide to stay here 🙂
The only downside to Colorado it seems would be the constant tourists. There is little of that in NH, but here in Florida – forget about it!
